28/29 week update

Wow so much has happened the last few weeks!

Lets start with last week:
I went to the Mamamagic baby expo with a friend on Thursday.
I had a shopping list!!
My main aim was to buy our travel system which Granny and Grampa Brune so kindly sponsored, but being the person I am I am always looking for the best price.

So off we went tho the expo. While we were there I decided to go for a 4D scan seeing that they aren't available here in Vdbp.

Were we in for a surprise!! Little Hanru is a real show off! He opened his eyes, sucked his thumb, grabbed the umbilical and showed us just how much he can stretch and touched his toes! What a cutie!!! We got some really nice pics of his little face!!

My little man weighed 1.2kg on the 4D scan.

We also managed to buy our travel system, Thanks Mom and dad!

I also bought a few other things for Hanru! Daddy's face was a sight to see when he got home and saw all the parcels :)

Once everything was unpacked I got a call on my cell to say we had won a cot from MEDIA 24 (the your pregnancy / Your baby and Toddler stand) WOW!!! What a surprise! Stefan says I can do that kind of shopping anytime if I come back with winning something!!

The cot was delivered yesterday!

We had our 29 week check up with our gynae on Monday and Hanru weighed in at 1.3kg, mommy has gained a kg since our last check-up. All is still on track for Hanru's arrival in February, Mommy has booked her hospital bed and booked for antenatal classes!

25 week ultrasound

So off to the Dr last week for our 25 week check up.

Hanru is still definately a boy, weighing 875g and has long legs and big feet!
Dr said Hanru doesn't like him much because he was sleeping when we had the appointment and no amount of coaxing or prodding was going to wake him up.

Mommy has gained a total of 2kg in 25/26 weeks which pleases mommy and the dr.

Baby moon

We always try to go away around about our anniversary, and this year we went to Ballito.
Although the weather was mostly overcast and cloudy we still enjoyed our time off.

We got to see dolphins and whales which is something you don't see that often.
Stefan felt Hanru kick for the first time on Monday (Our Anniversary)

23 week update

Went off to the doc for our 23 week update on the 18th.

Hanru weighed 505g. He was really busy - kicking and squirming!

Stefan loved seeing his little man move around. He even opened and closed his little mouth for us.

When I said to Stefan, Hanru looks like him - our gynae replied he rather thinks the baby looks like him!
HA HA - we all had a good laugh.
Everything looks normal, Dr checked Hanru's heart, diaphragm, pallette, skull, femur as well as the normal measurements.

When the Dr wanted to check his heart beat - Hanru decided it was time to get some kicking practice.

20/21 Week update

So we had our 20 week check up on Monday. Stefan came with this time and what a difference for him to see how baby has grown since the last time he was there at 8 weeks.

Baby is doing well measuring 350g. Dr wants to see me in 2 weeks to check all baby's organs.

And surprise surprise Baby is a boy! Dr is 95% certain. We didn't get any sonar pics this time but we hope to get some next week.

So Baby G is now officially Hanru Groenewald. And he is kicking up a storm - it must be all the Rugby world cup fever going on!

My tummy is growing by the day, and I feel like I'm already waddling!

Below is my belly pic taken at 21 weeks.

At last A BUMP

Photo taken on 8 Sept! I so wanted a bump and now its arrived in FULL Force!
Baby G has also started to make its presence known.
Play time is from 7-9pm when mommy want's to relax on the couch!

I am also not sleeping very well and I have a sneaky suspicion its baby G keeping me awake!

Daddy is loving the bump, I often catch him looking at me and smiling! So awesome.
We realise everyday how blessed we are!

16 week scan

So we had our 16 week scan on Monday 5 September.
Baby G has grown! Baby weighs 150g and has a heart beat of 140b/p/m

Mommy has gained a whole 1.5kg in the last 4 weeks.

Baby gave us a good look at its hand! Aunty Sonicke says it looks like that hand could catch a rugbyball quite easily - I think baby was waving at mommy!

We also got a look at Baby G's face in 3D and its feet in the right hand corner!

Daddy says Baby still looks a bit like an alien but still the cutest alien he has ever seen.

Baby G is terribly shy and didn't want to show us if its a Hanro or a Melise, we will all have to be patient and wait for the next scan!

Our first Scan

We had our first ultrasound today, I was really nervous. After reading all kinds of articles on Dr Google I had almost convinced myself we were going to have the scan and the dr would look at me and say but there is nothing there ?

But all my fears were unfounded, baby G was nestled safely and snuggly in my womb without a worry in the world.

Baby measures 8 weeks and 1 day, 17.26 mm and has a heart rate of 170bpm.

Due date 14 February 2012.

Monday, 20 June 2011

It finally happened!

On Friday 17 June 2011 at 15h30, I decided to throw caution to the wind and POAS (pee on a stick).
I was only expecting a Big Fat Negative and was about to throw that little stick in the dustbin when.....
that sneaky second line started to make its appearance.

So it is official we are pregnant! Expected Due Date 20 February 2012!

On Saturday I had to convince Stefan I was really pregnant and did a further 3 home pregnancy tests - all positive.

Bittersweet

Yesterday was Stiaan's Christening, Stiaan is Riaan (Stefan's brother) and Sonicke's firstborn.
He is a precious four month old with the most amazing blue eyes.

I was so happy to be at the Christening and sharing this beautiful boy with everyone there and celebrating that his parents prayers had been answered finally. At the same time I was so sad because I would so love a little one of our own.

Nobody told me how difficult it would be, and that I would become so emotional. I'm sitting in the church pew crying, not only because the blessing the minister is giving Stiaan is so beautiful but also because I find myself wishing it was me.

After the service we were asked to be Stiaan's godparents, how bittersweet.

Children are a blessing from God and we have been blessed to play a role in little Stiaan's life.

Its over :)

The Elections are over - After 18months of planning its all over in just one week.

This is my fourth election and I must say its gone better than the previous three. I definately didn't feel as tired and I didn't have as many nightmares as I have had in the past.

Its really satisfying to be working on a project that touches so many peoples lives. Although I don't get thanked personally - the fact that the elections are declared free and fair means it was a job well done!

I got this quote via sms 'Elections run better than any municipality. Can we vote IEC next time?'

Found it quite funny!!

Whats been happening the last 3 weeks besides elections?

Well the house is now painted - when we moved in 6 yrs ago it was orange and its now finally the colour we wanted it, we still need to finish off the window frames etc but the walls and roof is now painted.

Casey our Labrador has not had a seizure in four months which is a huge feat! This time last year she was having at least one seizure a week. Our furbabies have been on RAW food for the last 7 months and it is obviously paying off.

It was Mothers day - this was a really sad day for me - it was worse than last year, last year we had only been TTC'ing for 6 months and I just told myself don't worry next year this time it will be better, now a year later and.....nothing. What made Mother's day worse was that AF was already 4 days late and I knew I shouldn't get my hopes up, but I did only to be disappointed 2 days later :(

But chins are up, smile is plastered on and we will soldier on, with hope and faith we will reach our final destination.

Monday, Monday

What am I doing????? Its a public holiday and I'm in the office! I guess it helps that Stefan is also working otherwise I would probably still be snuggled in bed!

In two weeks time we have an election - 2 weeks! During the last election I was planning our wedding, (In case you are a little confused I work for the Electoral Commission (IEC) - the body that runs the elections in South Africa), I really thought then that by this time we would be a family of three - but God has other plans for us I guess.

Makes me think of a song we used sing in Sunday School:

In His time, in His time
He makes all things beautiful
In His time

Lord, please show me every day
As You’re teaching me Your way
That You do just what You say
In Your time

In Your time, in Your time
You make all things beautiful
In Your time

Lord, my life to You I bring
May each song I have to sing
Be to You a lovely thing

In Your Time

Its funny how you have your whole life planned out - and it doesn't work out the way you planned. I wonder sometimes - why? what did I do wrong? Am I being punished? But then I remember that its not what I want.....its what God wants.

During the last 18 months while trying to fall pregnant has been an amazing journey, we never thought it would be so hard! As I have said in my previous posts, my husband is awesome and always, always positive. We have done everything that we could and have had ourselves checked out - tests done - everything and now we just have to HURRY UP and WAIT.

I have always wanted to be a mom, I love taking care of people. Can't really explain it but I have always wanted to get married and have children ..... and live happily ever after!

I will never again ask anyone I meet (family or friends) that are married.....so When are you planning on having children???? My husband has the perfect answer now....He says "We are still enjoying the practicing" but it hurts, it hurts that people will ask this innocently but have no idea the yearning we actually have for a child, sometimes I feel like telling them well actually we have been trying for the last year and nothing. What I don't think they realise is that it just adds pressure! For some people its just not easy to fall pregnant.

The next thing these people normally say is: its so sad that people who want children try so hard and there are so many children that are unwanted - I really didn't want to hear that!!

Then they will say, you should just relax....don't think about it....It will happen!

I just wish they would have not said anything in the first place.....then if you have told them you are trying they will ask you everytime they see you...Hi, How are you, How is work, your husband? Not pregnant yet? or Any NEWS????.....Argggghhhh

It becomes a vicious cycle.

All I know is it will happen, but not in my time and I need to hurry up and wait.

Introductions:

This is our little family - The pic is about 5 yrs old but we all look the same - just a little rounder around the edges....

First let me introduce our furbabies:
Mallie - the Border Collie is 6yrs old, he loves playing ball and scaring the refuse removal guys on Wednesdays, he is also fondly known as Lazarus and our First born.
Jessie - the Jack Russel is 5yrs old, is not only the baby of the family but also the terrorist of the family!
She loves teasing, pulling and growling at her brother and sister. She is also an avid rat hunter!
Casey - the Labrador is 6yrs old, she is a gentle soul and most sensitive of our babies, she unfortunately suffers from canine epilepsy, but is doing well on a RAW diet that we've had her on for the last 6 months.

Then my husband:
Stefan is the love of my life, we started dating in 2003, moved in together at the end of 2004 and got married in 2009. He is the best thing that has happened to me in my life. He is sporty, loves the outdoors and...and....and....I could say so many things about him and it still wouldn't do him justice.

Lastly me:
I'm Kim....lets leave it at that for now.....

And we have take off....

I have been thinking about starting a blog for some time now - but wasn't sure for a couple of reasons:
1. how does one start
2. what do you say
3. why would other people be interested in my life?

And then I thought - WHY not?

Its like a virtual diary - that others can read if they want to or not, but more importantly I get to say what I want to say......
